My involvement in Focus on Living comes from my passionate belief that we have the power to take control of our circumstances and with the right support, guidance, faith and self-belief can meet any challenge life throws at us to live a fulfilled enriched life.My own long journey has certainly offered me the opportunity to put this belief into practice.Focus on Living is a wonderful concept and offers every participant an opportunity to become more equipped to tackle the diagnosis and consequent life changing journey which cancer forces upon you.

I was born in Holland in the beginning of World War 2. I spent the first five years of my life in constant fear, witnessing man’s inhumane behaviour toward man. Having a Jewish mother whose family was almost completely wiped out in concentration camps, I learned what real heartbreak was at a very early age.

At the age of nine, I moved to Indonesia with her parents and brother, only to be confronted again by the violence of war. The country was in the middle of a civil war, which made every day a challenge fraught with danger. Being very timid and frightened of the world I was harassed by a local street girl, who one evening lay in wait and pushed me into the path of an oncoming car. Although injured and in shock, I lived through this experience, and as a result began to be more assertive and less of a victim.

At the age of seventeen, I was diagnosed with polyneuritis, inflammation of the nerves running along both sides of my spine, caused by scoliosis(severe curvature of the spine). It was allegedly an incurable condition and I lived with continuous back pain. So much so that by the age of twenty-one, I was walking with the aid of a walking stick, with the prognosis that I would be in a wheelchair by the age of fifty. But determined to live life to the full and I pushed myself to have a rich and fulfilling time with family and friends. Continuously battling pain, I produced and reared three beautiful children and pursued a very busy and diverse professional life a large part of which was as an operating room nurse working with some of the best surgeons in Australia.

I lost my mother, father and brother to cancer over a period of twenty years. Facing crisis after crisis, I searched to find some rhyme or reason to life and embarked on a journey of self-discovery and personal empowerment. I always had a deep intuitive belief that the body is a self- healing mechanism. During this time I underwent a complete physical, mental and spiritual transformation, which aided in the total recovery of my scoliosis. I am now stronger and healthier than ever.

My focus in life is to educate and inspire people and heal the human mind, body and spirit, intent on bringing empowerment, light and love to the world wherever I can.I have worked in the field of Human Potential Development all my professional life, specializing on teaching people how to live a fulfilled, healthy purposeful quality of life.

Today I live by the sea in Melbourne, Australia. I am mother to three adult children and grandmother of three. I travel regularly to the East and Europe and run Spiritual Retreats in Bali. Yvonne published my first book, Pearls of Vision, Guided Thoughts for Daily Living, in 1993. My current book The Secret of Life is a practical life manual, a must read for anyone who wants to change their life for the better.I continue to explore and be fascinated by the human body, mind, emotions and spirit and work diligently to further my own transformation into conscious awareness and wisdom.

Amy Pearman, BHSc (Nut Med), Registered nutritionist

First of all, congratulations for embarking on this journey – ‘Focus on Living’ and choosing to learn and grow; physically, spiritually and mentally, to optimise your health and wellbeing and be the best you can be. I wish you the very best of wishes on your journey and I am very grateful and excited to be a part of it; to work with you and share with you my passion and knowledge of nutrition, the therapeutic power of food and the huge benefits and impacts these foods and lifestyle choices have on your health, wellbeing, recovery and your quality of life.I have always known I wanted to do something with my life and career combining two passions of mine; helping others and health. In pursuing this dream I studied and became a registered nurse, although I felt I had much more to offer people than I could in this setting and felt I could make a bigger difference, which is when I decided to study Natural Health and became particularly interested in Nutrition, completing my degree in Nutritional medicine.I am now a registered nutritionist practising out of my newly opened natural health clinic on the Mornington Peninsula- “High On Natural health”, where I provide private consultations in clinical nutrition for people of all ages. I practise holistically, treating each person individually, focussing on the health and functioning of all of their body systems and how these findings are interconnected and contributing to their present state of health or disease and the symptoms they may be experiencing. I also combine these findings with a dietary analysis and use naturopathic tools such as iris analysis and in-clinic and external testing, where appropriate, to then be able to provide a comprehensive treatment plan using nutrition, dietary recommendations and planning, food as medicine, mineral therapy and practitioner grade nutritional supplementation to manage their health condition, rebalance the body, address any deficiencies and help that client be the best version of themselves they can be.

I treat, manage and provide support for people with all sorts of acute and chronic health conditions and for otherwise healthy people just wanting to optimise their energy, health and wellbeing or reduce their risk of disease.

I am passionate not only about providing my clients with successful treatments and recommendations but also providing education surrounding the power of nutrition and healthful eating, preparation of healthy and nutritious meals and teaching them tools they can take away and use for life long health and good nutrition to suit them and their lifestyle.

I also conduct Nutrition Seminars amongst different community groups, such as primary schools and retirement villages to promote healthy nutritious eating, talking and educating people about health issues generally affecting their respective age groups, as well as conducting workshops for groups of people to learn how to manage and prepare nutritious foods for particular conditions.

I am looking forward to being involved in your journey and helping you to promote and optimise your health and wellness long into the future.

Inside each and everyone of us we have a miraculous potential for self healing. It’s true! So, when Brigette asked me to join the team at Focus On Living, I was delighted. I think I was always destined to be involved in health care because even as a youngster I wanted to help people feel happy and well. I am delighted our paths have crossed and look forward to meeting each and everyone of you.
Bec Ginsberg, Meditation Teacher

I truly wish everyone the best of possible experiences as you spend time with yourself and these wonderful modules that Brigette has created. To self inquire, to be willing to change our habits, and to LOVE ourselves anyway will open you up and catapult you to a happier, healthier and more joyful YOU … focused on living a magnificent life.Inside each and everyone of us we have a miraculous potential for self healing. Its true! So, when Brigette asked me to join the team at Focus On Living, I was delighted. Not only because I wanted to help her vision become a success, but because I love to be connected with peoples journeys to health and well being.I think I was always destined to be involved in health care because even as a youngster I wanted to help people feel happy and well. I was a hospital trained nurse by the age of 20. Aside from learning about the body and some great nursing skills I also learnt that I wanted to work proactively in the industry. So, I commenced studies in nutritional and herbal medicine and remedial massage. It seemed however, to me, that no matter what “healthy” thing we put into our bodies or did to our bodies, whether it be supplements or food or massage, the underlying truth was that if we were “stressed” – emotionally, mentally or physically and carried with us limiting belief patterns our innate ability to heal and be well, didn’t work!

I’m now 46, have been married to my beautiful husband for 24 years and have 3 awesome children. My life has seen me living in over 28 homes since I was 10, spanning 10 cities in 5 countries. Life has not always been happy, but, I have had my share of incredible life experiences including climbing to the top of the second highest pyramid in GIZA, chanting YOGA SUTRAS in Madras, touring the south of France, living on a remote property in country NSW. I’ve danced with abandon under the moonlight in Santorini, gathered and tasted fresh truffles in Abruzzi, and fallen in love in Crete.

I have had my share of challenging health issues. Through the

highs and lows it has been Meditation that has been my constant, my pathway to the source of my wellbeing. Every time I tap into the peaceful, infinite space within me during a meditation, my battery is recharged, my awareness reignited that I am so much more than just my physical body and I reconnect with my flow of JOY within.

I’m sharing all this with you because I want you to know that when I teach meditation I truly believe in it and have had years of experience understanding and feeling the

benefits. I hope to inspire you to also meditate daily and to experience first hand the miracles of healing it brings.

I am delighted our paths have crossed and look forward to meeting each and everyone of you.

With love, Bec
